MVMV had its special awareness program and voter registration drive at National Association for the Blind (NAB), R K Puram, New Delhi, on August 26th, 2017 for the visually impaired students who recently turned 18 years…
Out of 25 visually impaired students who attended the awareness program, 15 students have filled the voter registration form. It was overwhelming to see the visually impaired students actively taking part in the awareness program and bringing along with them documents along with their age proof. The principal, Mrs. Shantha Rangarajan and her team ably supported MVMV in organizing the event and making it a success. We had converted the presentation into Braille and distributed the handouts to the students, so that the students can refer them and spread the message to others.
It was so encouraging to see the hunger for knowledge amongst the visually impaired students. They sincerely went through the Braille presentation documents. It was also heartening to see the students responding to queries quite eagerly, getting photographed and thanking MVMV team for educating and assisting them in getting their voter id cards, which will give them the power to vote in the world’s largest democracy. Even one pass out student from NAB & currently employed in a PSU bank, Sunil also came forward to discuss his problem of a correction required in his existing voter id. He also thanked MVMV team from the core of his heart that this is the first awareness program of its kind being held in NAB. This special drive gave new dimension to MVMV in their pursuit for spreading awareness amongst people.
After segregation, the breakup of voter registration forms as per Delhi assembly constituency-wise are as under;
